Clay-colored Thrush (National bird of Costa Rica) – Costa Rica lifer#5

January 18, 2020 By Stan Lee

This national bird of Costa Rica can be found in southernmost Texas USA through eastern Mexico and over much of Middle America to northwest South America, in Colombia. Costa Rica choose it as a national symbol over many much more colorful birds that inhabit the country due to its strong and melodious song that always comes during the start of the rainy season. In addition, the present bird has been familiar to the general population since the country’s early history. Length: 23-27 cm Lifespan: up to 9 years
