Swallow-tailed Kite catching lizard at sunrise

April 13, 2020 By Stan Lee

Whenever I was in Florida, I look out for the Swallow-tailed Kites. one of my favorite raptors in North America. This year I was able to track down couple of them hunting at sunrise. They were only active for less then 40 minutes during the first light of the day. Trying to photograph them in action with such low light was very challenging but rewarding. So far, I still have not found a Swallow-tailed Kite in a perching position. That should be my mission next year.
