This big chunky sparrow’s name refers to its bright foxy-red color. It is widely distributed across the boreal forest of northern North America. It winters over much of the East and the southern Pacific Coast; summers in Alaska, Canada, and western mountains. Length: 15-19 cm Wingspan: 27-29 cm Lifespan: 9 years
