Trumpeter Swan – Windsor Ontario

February 12, 2021 By Stan Lee

This heaviest living bird native to North America is also the largest extant species of waterfowl. Reduced by hunting in the 1600-1800s, fewer than a hundred were know to exist by 1930s. It has made a remarkable comeback after active reintroduction efforts were made in the upper Midwest and Ontario. Length: 1.3-1.5 m Wingspan: 2 m Lifespan: up to 24 years
