Magnificent Frigatebird – Southwest Florida

April 4, 2024 By Stan Lee

Frigatebirds are magnificently agile fliers, and can stay in the air for weeks at a time. They often chase other seabirds to steal their prey. They cannot dive below the surface, and even landing on the water is dangerous. Their feathers become waterlogged and ineffectual when they are exposed to water. Length: 89-114cm (2 ft 11 in – 3 ft 9 in) Wingspan: 2.2-2.4 m (7 ft – 8 ft)
